
Required Events for StarJewel Nationals
On-Stage Introduction
Contestants will have 30 seconds to introduce themselves on stage. Each contestant should include their name, hometown, and something interesting about themselves. The introduction competition is for ages 7 and up. Introductions will be performed in a business or church dress. Fashionable pant suits are also acceptable.

Example:
I am proud to call my hometown the gateway to Hocking Hills, where there are always friendly faces to greet you.

Whether I’m paddling a canoe on the Hocking River, exploring Old Man’s Cave, or hand feeding hummingbirds at Lake Hope; I’m amazed by my wonderful community.

On-Stage Question
Each contestant will be asked a simple question on stage. Ages 0 - 6 do not compete in on-stage question. There is never a wrong answer to a question. Answer naturally as if you were having a casual conversation with the judge. Questions will be answered in your business or church dress.

Examples:
Question - What is your favorite subject in school?
Answer - I love to read! My favorite subject is definitely Literature. I love everything about it; the books, the assignments, and especially my teacher.

Question - Whom do you admire most?
Answer - The person I admire most would have to be my mom. She’s always there for me no matter what. She’s really an inspiration to me, I hope to be just like her one day.
​Question - What do you want to be when you grow up?
Answer - I want to work for NASA and be a part of their space program. Who knows maybe one day you will hear my name as the first woman on Mars!​

Question - If you could be any animal, what animal would you be?
Answer - I would be a cheetah, because I want to be the fastest animal on earth. That way I could get there fast whenever my family needs me.

Question - If you could be a super hero, who would you be?
Answer - There has only ever been one super hero in my life, my father. He was larger than life and he saved people every day. I would be a police officer like my Dad, because they are amazing people and will always be super heroes in my eyes.

Formal Wear
Every girl deserves a moment in the spotlight, this is your time to shine. Model a gown of your choice that shows the world your personal style. Choose a dress that makes you feel confident.
​
Note: Divisions Little Miss and below should wear gowns with straps or cap sleeves, please no strapless dresses in these age divisions. Beginning with the Pre-Teen age division, modest strapless gowns are permitted. In all age divisions; no sexy cutouts, deep slits, or low-cut plunging necklines allowed. Conservative two piece gowns are allowed, as long as they are not overtly sexual or show too much skin. A modest slit is allowed in the Miss/Ms divisions. All formal wear should be age appropriate. Gowns should be no more than 1" off the ground, however, contestants 0-6 may wear "cupcake" style formals.
